Ciudad (pob., 2000: 198.915 hab.) en el sudoeste del estado de Alabama en EE.UU. Se sitúa junto a la bahía de Mobile en la desembocadura del río Mobile.

El lugar fue explorado por los españoles en 1519. En 1702, los colonizadores franceses construyeron un fuerte cerca de la desembocadura del río. Fue la capital de la Luisiana francesa hasta 1720. En 1763 pasó a manos de los británicos; los españoles la capturaron durante la guerra de independencia de los Estados Unidos de América. En 1814 se constituyó como pueblo del estado de Florida Occidental y pasó a dominio de EE.UU. cuando en 1819 España vendió Florida a los estadounidenses. Durante la guerra de Secesión fue un puerto importante de la Confederación, pero las fuerzas federales ganaron la batalla de Mobile Bay y capturaron la ciudad. El único puerto marítimo del estado es también un importante centro industrial y manufacturero y sede de diversas instituciones de educación superior.
